Two cotlights winking face to face
flash messages in the dead of night.
Like fireflies caught in lovers' dance
two creatures alone
in this world, reside.
A cheeky tongue sticks out
in time with a curtain flutter.
Yonder a pock-marked face distorts
with torchlit dramatics inside a pillow fort.
Giggle uttered but never exchanged
titter and subside in both abodes.
Like fairy-lights on low batteries,
one drives away loneliness
the other makes do for unwelcome company.
What thoughts, naive, cross infant minds
Befriending souls many blocks apart?
One in a dinner crowd, another only solitude allowed,
mime messages only lonely hearts can hear.
The above poem is for the NaPoWriMo2022. Day 2. Prompt: To pick a word from Haggard Hawk's twitter page. I couldn't open the page so instead I went on his Instagram page (same name).
